The first time I saw Jake he was in a street fight accross from the Shake Shop. He was beating the snot out of some guy and had him in a head lock with the guys head pinned against a light pole. The police station was on that side of the street so a cop finally came out, broke it up, he took them both inside. I remember thinking, "Man I don't wont to get into a fight with that guy (Jake)". Later I would come to know him at high school, and he was more of that big smile you see on his yearbook. Still wouldn't want to mess with him. Bless you Jake!
tribute by steve benfieldJake was a force in high school, but only if you did not spend time with him. We had many laughs together shooting pool at Midway pool room, riding around town, and hanging out at the bowling alley with the late night "trouble makers." I haven't seen him since the 60's, but he was not forgotten. Bless his family. Harvey Crouse
tribute by Harvey CrouseJake, you were a very good friend in the early 60s. We had a lot of fun at the Hilltop/Calvary Baptist Church. The many Bible studies we were involved in, the many questions that would come up, and the answeres we were not expecting. I enjoyed picking you and Bill Riley up to go to church and the times we parked on Main Street just to talk about 'things'. We three were a trio of singing in church and the people took us and the Teen Choir on short road trips. I've missed you over the years but now may you have sweet peace in the Jesus you loved. May the Holy Spirit rest upon your family while you enjoy your time with Jesus. Love You, Man. Danny
