James Franklin Bailey, Sr.James Franklin Bailey, Sr., 61, of Hickory, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at his residence.Born December 14, 1948 in Huntington, W.Va., he was the son of the late Verna Scarborough and Denver Bailey.Mr. Bailey was a retired employee of Wal-Mart in Conover and a member of Joy Baptist Church. He loved his family and was a racing fan. He also spent time as a race car driver.He is survived by his wife, Dianne Franklin Bailey of the home; sons: James Bailey, Jr. and wife Pam of Lincolnton, Kenneth Bailey and wife Rebecca of Hickory, Rick Franklin and wife Susan of Taylorsville; daughters: Chasity Huffman and husband Chad of Hickory, Courtney Berry of Hickory, Patty Kump of Asheville, Teresa Starnes and husband Larry of Claremont; sister, Betty Bailey of Iron Station; thirteen grandchildren: Josh, Brooke, Dylan James, Daniel, Zackery, and Zoie Bailey; Crystal and Monica Kump; Dalton Franklin, Ashley Day, Lori and Jennifer Powell, and Colby Lail; aunt, Elizabeth Bryant of Lincolnton; cousin, Roger Bryant of Lincolnton; and nephew, Shane Poole and wife Jessica of Lincolnton.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Joy Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Shook officiating.
